FaceTec has introduced a new solution for identity verification.
FaceTec has harnessed the power of biometrics and QR codes. UR (QR) codes encode detailed biometric data and link it directly to biographical data that has been verified by the issuing authority.
For example, a UR code on a driver's license will allow a police officer to verify the identity of a vehicle user by scanning the UR (QR) code and scanning the person's face with a mobile device.
In this way, FaceTec's software creates a live, three-dimensional map of the face, which can be compared with the identity data stored in the UR code. A match indicates that the user is who they say they are.
The UR code can be stored in mobile, digital or paper form (e.g. a business card).
To ensure the wide use of the codes, FaceTec offers stand-alone verification software. According to the manufacturer, UR codes will be able to be encoded free of charge by all government institutions, schools, non-profit organizations, humanitarian organizations and non-governmental organizations, and the license will be valid for an indefinite period.
Advanced Code Security.
Each UR code contains 72 bytes of digitally signed vector facial feature data, which FaceTec claims cannot be reconstructed into a coherent facial image.
The digitally signed, encrypted data is tamper-proof and is never sent to FaceTec, nor is any personally identifiable information.
When it comes to face matching, FaceTec’s technology boasts a false acceptance rate of one in two million with a false rejection rate of less than one percent. FaceTec’s biometrics and liveness detection technology is backed by the company’s unique Spoof Bounty Program, which has offered hundreds of thousands of dollars in rewards to would-be hackers without having to pay a dime in years.
FaceTec offers online demos of its UR code encoder and UR code verification system. Its UR code system is currently covered by a patent application.
